It’s National Coffee Day

It’s National Coffee Day and we are celebrating with a Coffee Loving Makers Hop. You want to know what’s better than that? Kat Scrappiness is a SUPER SPONSOR!!! That means there is a GIVEAWAY prize from her store. Are you as excited as I am? Let’s get to talking about my card, so we can talk about the prize and a special coupon code just for you coffee lovers.

Feast your eyes on the Kat Scrappiness goodies we are using today. In no particular order, pictured are some of the products I have used on my card; KS Coffee Time Background, KS Layered Coffee Cup and the KS Stitched Fancy Scallop Heart. Not pictured are KS Got Coffee Word Die, KS Sprinkles Pink Cherry Blossom and KS Teal Jewels.

I began by die cutting the KS Layered Coffee Cup using Neenah Solar White #80 cardstock and the KS Coffee Time Background cut out from blue cardstock from my stash. I took some Ranger Distress Ink in Weathered Wood and inked around the edges of all the pieces of my coffee cup to help add some shading and to make it pop. I cut the cozy out of some older MFT patterned paper and used some Distress Ink in Spun Sugar around the edges of the cozy. Then I used the curved die piece that accents the lid and cut two pieces of glitter cardstock to border the cozy and trimmed off the excess. I also took the smallest heart from the KS Stitched Fancy Scallop Heart and used the same pink glitter cardstock, so I had a cute accent piece for the cozy. Finally, I assembled my coffee cup.

Next, I used Versamark Ink and tapped it around the edges of the Coffee Time Background Die and added Ranger Bridal Tinsel Embossing Powder over the top. I set it with my Wagner Heat Tool. The Bridal Tinsel is clear with beautiful glitter in it. This added a little shimmer and shine to go with the pink glitter paper I used on the cozy. I cut a pink frame from a piece of patterned paper from the same MFT paper pad I used on the cozy and glued both of the pieces down to an A2 Card base that cut from Neenah Solar White #110 cardstock. The card base measures 4.25 x 5.5.

Now it’s time to make some cookies to go with that coffee. I cut six of the second smallest hearts from the KS Stitched Fancy Scallop Heart die from Neenah Solar White #80 cardstock. I created two heart bases with dimension by gluing 3 hearts together. Next, I took Distress Ink in Tea Dye and Antique Linen and I blended it over the hearts to look like baked cookies. I made sure to make one a little crispier than the other, as you can see in the finished photo. When it was time to decorate my cookies, I used Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bubble Gum Blush and Calming Aqua to flood them just as I would with real Royal Icing. I then added the sweet KS Cherry Blossom sprinkles to the top and set them aside to dry for the night.

The sentiment was cut using the KS Got Coffee Die and a scrap piece of pink cardstock. I added Diamond Stickles to the words to keep the bling theme going.

Finally, I was ready to put everything together. I glued all of my pieces down using Scotch Glue. I decided I need more bling so I added some of the KS Teal Jewels to the card and just like that… the card was finished. Here is a look at the finished piece. Who doesn’t want cookies with their coffee?

  2. Your card is so cute. Love the colors. Love how you made the cookies and that coffee cup and bean background die is awesome. I love it. I usually don’t get coffee out because I don’t usually like them. I make my own. I do add Italian Sweet Creamer to it. I would like to try some peppermint Mocha. That sound yummy.

    1. Cindy, I am not a coffee out girl in general. I do love the fall and Christmas season drinks, so I am sure to grab a couple during that time. Thanks for your delightful comment.

  3. Your card is so pretty!
    I love that background die!
My favorite coffee drink is fresh brewed black coffee, made from beans I grind myself & a couple of sprinkles of cinnamon mixed with the ground coffee before brewing. The cinnamon adds just enough flavor without taking over the fresh bean flavor. I do usually get a Pumpkin Spiced latte or two every fall. I had one today.

    1. Thank you so much, I appreciate you taking rime to comment. I like ti make my own creamer and use cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger in it. Adding the cinnamon to the grounds sounds awesome and I bet it smells great too.
